What is SMP and why is the process important?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP)<\/a>, Scalp micropigmentation or trichopigmentation in Estonian is a procedure in which very small pigment spots are placed on the scalp \u2014 with the aim of imitating hair follicles. The pigment is inserted into the skin with special needles, into the superficial layer of the skin (the upper part of the dermis).<\/p>\n

SMP is not a surgical procedure \u2014 it does not cause scarring like a hair transplant and does not damage existing hair follicles.<\/p>\n

SMP process stages \u2013 from inception to maintenance<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1. Consultation and scalp assessment<\/h3>\n

The process always begins with a consultation. Here, we discuss the condition of your hair (thinning, baldness, alopecia, scars, etc.), what your expectations are, and assess your scalp \u2014 whether the skin is healthy, whether there are any diseases, scars, etc.<\/p>\n

A consultation with a specialist will help you decide whether SMP is suitable, whether prior treatment (for example, for skin problems) or additional preparations are needed.<\/p>\n

2. Planning the hairline and density (design)<\/h3>\n

Once you have decided on SMP, a new hairline (or an existing one) will be selected together with a specialist, as well as the shade and density of the pigment according to your skin and hair color. This step is very important \u2014 the hairline must suit your face shape, age, and natural style.<\/p>\n

Good design ensures that the result looks natural and the pigment spots blend in with your existing hair or beard (if beard micropigmentation is used).<\/p>\n

3. First SMP session: Pigment application<\/h3>\n

Once the design and tone are in place, the pigmentation phase begins. Using special microneedles, pigment is placed in very small dots into the superficial layer of the dermis of the skin \u2014 this creates the impression of a hair root\/follicle (shaved hair).<\/p>\n

Depending on the extent and area of hair loss, the session can last 2-5 hours.<\/p>\n

If the area is large or requires a lot of work (such as alopecia, complete baldness, or large areas), the session may be divided over several days.<\/p>\n

4. Multi-Session Strategy \u2013 Building Density and Depth<\/h3>\n

The SMP result is often achieved 2\u20134 sessions<\/strong>, which take place over several weeks or months \u2014 depending on the size of the area being worked on.<\/p>\n

This multi-session approach allows for natural density, depth of pigment tones, and a smooth transition from skin to \u201chair.\u201d.<\/p>\n
